I do hope that you all have had a very enjoyable summer, and have managed in the very hot weather.
It seems a long time since we have all been together but the Arts Society has not been dormant during that time.
On August 11th 49 members gathered together for a coffee morning. I missed out on this as I was on holiday but I hear that it was a very enjoyable get together with lots of chatter. I would like to express my thanks to the Committee and helpers who made this a very successful event.
Then at the beginning of September, 31 of us went on a visit to Stonor House. We were greeted with coffee and a lovely slice of cake and then taken on a tour of the house. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and introduced an element of humour into our visit. He also kept us on our toes by asking us questions as well as answering ours.
After the visit we were all let loose in Henley, some of us to get lunch, some of us to walk around the town and do some shopping and some of us went to take a boat trip along the Thames.
I would like to thank Maggie Evans for arranging and organising this visit for us.
This month we are back to routine. On the 22nd September our speaker will be Professor Raymond Holden. The lecture is entitled ‘Divas and Divos, Great British Singers in performance and on record’
As an advance warning our October meeting will be followed by our AGM.
I would like to thank the 4 people who have come forward with offers of help in running the Society. However we need people who will be willing to fill our vacant positions. I will remind you that after July next year we will need to fill the following roles: Chairman, Treasurer, Programme Secretary, Membership Secretary and someone to do communications. If anyone would like to fill any of these positions please could you contact Benita Middleton our Secretary (bamiddleton25@yahoo.co.uk) and myself before the AGM in October.
Thank you for your continued support and I hope to see you all on Tuesday.
Linda
